How do I create a subdomain?

You can create two types of subdomains, regular and user subdomains.

Regular subdomains can be created using the Add subdomain option. You can choose both the name of the subdomain and the directory (/var/www is the base directory) it relates to. For example, you could create a subdomain called support. Files for the subdomain website should be uploaded to the directory specified when creating the subdomain (e.g. /var/www/support) which would be visible when you visit your subdomain (e.g. http://support.example.com).

User subdomains can be created using the Add User option. A user subdomain is a subdomain that has the same name as its owner. The subdomain will, by default, be located in the home directory of the user under the public_html folder. The subdomain directory cannot be changed by the user. If you enable a user subdomain for the user joe, then the subdomain could be accessed at http://joe.example.com/ and the files would be located at /home/joe/public_html/.

Please note that it can take up to 24 hours for your subdomain to resolve and be accessible once you have created it.
