What does SSL mean?

SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer. Online shopping sites frequently use SSL technology to safeguard the transfer of confidential user information, such as credit card numbers. SSL creates a secure connection between the client and your website and gives all parties the confidence that information is being sent securely and to the right place.

If you want to have your own private secure server space eg https://www.yourdomain.com/, then you will need the additional SSL option. All plans have an SSL upgrade option which provides the installation of a 128 bit Comodo SSL certificate, plus the allocation of a dedicated IP address for your website for only £49.99 + VAT per year extra.

If you wish to add a secure certificate to your site at a later date after purchasing a web hosting package, then please contact us for a link through which to pay, and please note that  this may result in a bit of downtime as your site would need to be moved to a dedicated IP address.
