How do I use SmartFTP to upload my website?

SmartFTP is an FTP client. You can download the software from the SmartFTP website. Once installed you can follow the steps below to connect to your hosting account and upload your website.

  1. Select 'New Remote Browser' from the 'File Menu'.
  2. Enter 'ftp.example.com' (replace example.com with your domain name) into the 'Host' field.
  3. Enter 'var/www/html' in to the 'Path' field.
  4. In the 'User Name' field enter your accounts username and domain name in the format of 'username@example.com'.
  5. Enter your account's password in the 'Password' field.
  6. Click 'OK' to connect.
  7. Drag the files from your local drive to the relevant remote directory.
If you wish to upload CGI scripts to the account, change the path to '/var/www/' and place the CGI scripts in the 'cgi-bin' directory and the HTML files in the 'html' directory.
