How are viruses filtered?
All incoming and outgoing emails are scanned for malicious attachments. The scanner uses two techniques to identify malicious emails. The first method checks that the filenames of attachments don't match certain patterns and the second, runs the email through a virus scanner which is updated on a daily basis.
Emails which are suspected to contain viruses have their attachments replaced with a warning message detailing the findings of the scan.
Don't forget that you should always run a virus checker on your PC as well, as viruses are not only distributed by email and our scanners can't guarantee a 100% detection rate.
