How do I use Internet Explorer 6 to upload my website?

Internet Explorer 6 can be used as a basic FTP client, allowing you to easily upload your website. To connect to your site, open Internet Explorer 6 and follow the instructions below.

  1. Enter 'ftp://ftp.example.com/mainwebsite_html/' (replace example.com with your domain name) into the address field.
  2. In the 'User Name' field enter your accounts username and domain name in the format of username#example.com.
  3. Enter your accounts password in the 'Password' field.
  4. Click the 'Log On' button to connect to your account.
You can now rename, move, copy and delete the files from your hosting account as if it were a folder on your own computer.

If you need to upload CGI scripts to your account you would need to enter 'ftp://ftp.example.com/mainwebsite_cgi/' into the address field. Files you upload to this directory will be accessible via http://www.example.com/cgi-bin/.

This only applies to Internet Explorer 6.
